Penthouse flat

The flat is arranged on two levels with two exits leading out onto terraces. The living room, guest room, main bedroom and two bathrooms are placed on the lower level, while stairs lead up to a large kitchen-diner with access to a large terrace. Lulu Mosquito was commissioned to decorate and style the flat in preparation for sale. In addition to magnificent views of Fjordenhus (the prestigious architectural project nearby), the flat is bathed in light, accentuated by the changing seasons and the always fickle weather. We chose to use grey and brownish shades for the décor. The furniture and accessories were deliberately chosen in dry natural colours to create a calm and cosy atmosphere.

In the living room, we mixed different materials. The beautiful check cushions feature a textile design by Paul Smith, and are designed and produced by Lulu. They can be purchased exclusively in our online shop. The grey wall colour and the dark grey carpet harmonise with the sofas to create a ‘room within a room’. Plants on shelves create a green oasis against the wall, offering a different and unique look to what would have been achieved by simply using flowerpots standing on the floor.

Inspired by the water just outside the building, we chose a console and coffee table with a mirror-like surface. The mix of small side tables in varying sizes with different surfaces form an eye-catching contrast to the otherwise symmetrical interior. In the kitchen-diner we chose a round dining table in order to make the most of the available space. The Hector table with extra leaves is from Eberhart, and is made of smoked oak, concrete and brass. The dark shades of the furniture and accessories contrast beautifully with the bright, white room. The Long John lamp does not obstruct the stunning view, and neither does the fine glass vitrine cabinet from Nordal, which is placed in front of the window. We used Smoke Armchairs from Moooi in the hallway and in the kitchen-diner. This is the ultimate statement chair in a modern baroque style, giving the décor character and edge. In the bedroom as well as in the office/guest room we chose shades of grey and brown for all the soft furnishings and materials to create balance and harmony. The recurring and calm colour palette creates the perfect environment for the large and colourful paintings.
